Huron-Kinloss looking at seven per cent tax increase

The recent meeting of council for Huron-Kinloss brought news that taxes in the township could go up by a possible seven per cent for 2008 if adopted the budget at the May 21 meeting, meaning a house worth $200,000 would see an increase of about $56 for the township’s share of their property tax bill. Huron-Kinloss residents received news recently that the Family Y Daycare will stay open in Lucknow, however residents wanting to renew their drivers licenses will have to make a trip to Kincardine or Wingham rather than visit the Ministry of Transportation office on Havelock Street. Full story

Clinton man charged with “Stunt Driving” in a garbage truck

Three-vehicle collision closes County Road 4

South Bruce OPP investigated a serious three-vehicle collision on County Road 4 east of County Road 19 on April 21 shortly after the lunch hour in which an elderly man was airlifted to hospital after being extracted from his vehicle by emergency personnel. Full story

Lucky star shinning on five youth

Given the potentially deadly combination of inexperience, alcohol and lack of seatbelt use, a single vehicle collision on Mill Road in Bluewater sent five people to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Full story

Drug warrant catches suspected dealer

On April 10, 2008 at approximately 7:30 pm, Ontario Provincial Police members including members of the Drug Enforcement Section and the Huron Crime Unit attended a Main Street address in Exeter, arresting two suspected drug dealers and taking drugs and guns off the streets. Full story
