Impaired driver caught after crashing in ditch On October 19, 2008 at approximately 9:00 p.m. Huron OPP officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle on its side in a ditch on Clyde Line in Morris-Turnberry. Police arrived on scene to find that the male driver was receiving medical attention. Police were alerted to the man’s state of being impaired by EMS personnel. Observations of the man confirmed the suspicions. EMS personnel also indicated that the male had been combative with them as they attempted to assist him. Police spoke with the male who was very belligerent. He was arrested for Impaired Care and Control and while placing him in the cruiser he assaulted an officer. The man was taken to the Huron OPP Detachment to meet with a qualified Breathalyzer Technician but the male refused to provide a sample of his breath. As a result of the investigation, Bruce Hetsler, 48, of Howick has been charged with one count of Impaired Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle and one count of Refusal to Provide Breath Samples. |
