No water meters for Huron-Kinloss At the March 3 meeting in Ripley, Huron-Kinloss council says no to the idea of implementing a water-metering program. After reviewing the annual reports for the Lakeshore water System, as well as those in Lucknow, Ripley and Whitechurch, council decided that the best way to go is to continue with the flat rate system. The reports typically push for water meters and this report was no different. “The township may want to assess the benefits of implementing a water metering program,” it said. As well, there have been recent letters to the township from a ratepayer, asking for council to consider water meters, The township’s public works department believes that, for the most part, consumers are conscious of water conservation and the cost-benefit ratio of such a program would not be beneficial to the township at this time. Council agreed with the recommendation. The cost to have the meters installed would be an additional cash burden to users of the township’s water systems who at this time enjoy some of the lower water rates in Bruce County. These reports are available to the public in the municipal office lobby, as well as on the township website.
