Several agencies to investigate the 18 Mile Bridge incident By Lynda Cooper, News Director, 95.5 The Coast FM Bruce County warden and Huron-Kinloss mayor Mitch Twolan comments on the investigation into the collapse of a section of bridge under construction on Bruce County Road 86, saying it’s not just the Ministry of Labour taking a look at things. Hear his audio comments by clicking here. As well, Twolan says the rebuilding of the 18 Mile Bridge is a joint project between Huron-Kinloss Township of Bruce County and Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township of Huron County, because the boundary line for the counties runs through the middle of the bridge. He says the Ministry of Labour has concluded its on site inspection, but no word on their findings. A Ministry of the Environment official was also there, looking at water flow of the river. Twolan says it’s been difficult to get all parties involved in the investigation together to talk about when clean up may begin, who will pay for, who will do it and when construction will continue. |
