What a mess

Already ten weeks behind, what was supposed to be a bridge on Bruce County Road 86, between Amberley and Lucknow is now a pile of rubble. This follows an accident which happened on Saturday, Nov 10, 2007, while pouring the concrete deck. Reports indicate that forms, used for pouring the concrete for the deck gave way, sending a large portion of “would-be” bridge into the river, in the form of wet concrete.

Above shows the scene on Bruce County Road 86, between Amberley and Lucknow on Sunday, Nov 11, following an accident the day before, (Nov 10). Tons of concrete and steel fell into the 18 Mile River after forms, used when pouring concrete gave way, injuring some of the workers. Below are several photos of the mess, as seen from the north side of the highway looking south as officials look on and investigate.

Looking at the rubble from the south side of Highway 86, (below), is no better, but gives an indication of the large amount of wet concrete that dropped into the river and the huge mess that will need to be cleaned up before work can begin again on the problem plagued bridge.
