Impaired driver leaves the scene of collision

Charges laid for drugs, alcohol and more

Constable Jim Conrad of the South Bruce OPP says that a Kincardine Township man received multiple charges following a collision on Upper Lorne Beach Road in which one of the vehicles involved left the scene.

Conrad says that officers located the driver and vehicle and arrested the driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and failing to remain at the scene of a collision. The collision happened at about 12:12 a.m. on July 11, 2008

The driver was also in possession of drugs suspected to be cocaine and cannabis marihuana.

As though those charges were not enough, while at the South Bruce OPP detachment the driver failed to provide a breath sample.

The 38-year-old Kincardine Township man was charged with Impaired operation of a motor vehicle section 253(a), Fail to remain at the scene of a collision section 252, Dangerous Driving section 249(1)(a), Fail to provide breath sample section 254(5) and two offences under the Controlled Drugs and substance act.

He will appear in Walkerton Provincial Criminal Court on September 15, 2008.
