Motorist alerts OPP to impaired driver Constable JoannaVan Mierlo says that an alert member of the public called police informing them that a possible impaired driver was on the road in North Huron Township. She says that on July 17, 2008 at approximately 1:00 p.m. Huron OPP officers received a traffic complaint from a motorist advising of a possible impaired driver northbound on London Road. “The caller provided detailed information to police and the vehicle and driver were located behind the Wingham Motel south of Wingham.” The male driver had open alcohol in the vehicle and it was quickly determined that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested for Impaired Care and Control and he was taken to the Wingham Police for breath tests with a Breathalyzer Technician. The results of the tests confirmed that the driver had nearly two times the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol. As a result, a 53-year-old North Huron man will appear in Wingham Court on September 18, 2008 to answer to one count of Impaired Care and Control and one count of Over 80 Milligrams Care and Control. |
