Drinking drivers taken off the road in Goderich

Huron OPP say charges were laid against a Goderich woman and an ACW man on the weekend, resulting from drinking and driving.

The first happened on Friday, January 12, 2007 at about 10:00 p.m. when Huron OPP officers were conducting RIDE program in the town of Goderich, on Britannia Road.

A 1985 Toyota was stopped. The woman driving admitted that she had consumed a quantity of alcohol. A lawful roadside breath demand was issued and the driver registered a fail.

She was transported to the Huron detachment were two breath samples were supplied and analyzed. The results were greater then the legal limit of 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.

Margaret Bissonnette, 48, of Goderich, will attend Goderich Provincial Court on March 5, 2007 and face one count of drive motor vehicle with more then 80mg.

Bissonnette was also issued a 90-day automatic driver’s license suspension.

Another imparid driver was charged the following night.

On January 13, at 12:30 a.m. Huron OPP officers stopped a 1995 GMC pick up on Toronto Street, in Goderich.

The driver of the vehicle was found to have been drinking and as a result was issued a lawful roadside breath demand.

He was then transported to the Huron detachment, were two breath samples were supplied and analyzed. His results were also greater then the legal limit of 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, making him number two of the weekend.

Dean Dear, 20, of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh will attend Goderich Provincial Court on March 5, 2007 to face one count of drive motor vehicle with more then 80 mg.

He too was also issued a 90-day automatic driver’s license suspension.
